Green tea is one of the best drinks to consume for weight loss explained the doctor
Understanding what to eat when starting to lose weight is one of the most important factors for people to be successful when slimming down.
Knowledge of what to drink should go hand in hand with an individual's diet a doctor explained who recommended three drinks to Britons to have for losing weight.
Chief Medical Officer of The Slimming Clinic, Dr Charlotte Norton, explained that remaining hydrated is critical for slimmers to get the most out of their weight loss journey.
The doctor said: "Drinks, and hydration, are vital for weight loss. This is because not drinking enough water can lead to bloating, and negatively affects digestion. Hydration is important for keeping the body’s gut, digestion and electrolyte balance healthy."

GETTYDr Norton recommended having green tea due to it having multiple health benefits beyond just weight loss.
"Green tea can help with weight loss due to the bioactive substances which might help boost metabolism and break down fat cells," said the doctor.
Green tea can help people with their heart health, with it being suggested to help reduce blood pressure, cholesterol, and may lower the risk of stroke.
The drink may help reduce inflammation too and slow the breakdown of cartilage, which could help with arthritis.
The expert encouraged people to cut out fizzy drinks and drink lots of water whether that be still or sparkling.
She said: "Drinking water of any type can help with keeping the body hydrated and improve weight loss.
"Many people find that sparkling water is a good swap for their usual sugary fizzy drinks because it still provides the fizz, but without the added calories and sugar that can cause weight gain. Some people find the bubbles help to make them feel fuller for longer too, which can reduce their calorie intake."
Dr Norton advised people to drink six to eight glasses of water every single day.

PAThe worst drinks people can have during a weight loss journey is anything that is high in calories or sugar the expert explained.
"For example, most full-fat soft drinks contain around 140 calories per can and around 37 grams of sugar," said Dr Norton.
"Other drinks which aren’t good for weight loss are some shop or cafe bought smoothies. People often think they’re healthy because they’re fruit-based, but many are very high in sugar."
Slimmers have been told to avoid fast-food drinks and alcohol which are both high in empty calories and will make people less likely to eat healthily.
