As for weight loss, experts at the Italian gourmet chocolate manufacturer Venchi said: "The first thing that pops into the minds of people with a sweet tooth when they go on a diet is that they can never eat sweets again. Rest assured, a piece of dark chocolate never hurts...quite the opposite in fact.
"It goes without saying, however, that you should choose high-quality chocolate, i.e. without artificial ingredients or palm oil, with less sugar and with a high percentage of cocoa. We highly recommend 10g of dark chocolate (at least 70 per cent cocoa).
"Dark chocolate reduces sugar cravings and makes you feel fuller, making it the perfect snack for those who are more conscious about their figure."
Dark chocolate contains far less sugar than milk and white chocolate.
