Many people struggle to eat for weight loss because healthier foods rarely offer the same kick as their favourite snacks.
Finding more nutritious takes on restaurant-quality meals is an easy way to cut back on calories without compromising on taste, however.
A slimmer named Nikki claims this dietary approach was key in helping her shed 50lbs in just five months.
She began her weight loss journey by addressing old binging habits and improving her overall mental health.

“Exactly four years ago, I made the decision to turn my life around, to take my life into my control and to lose weight and to start my weight loss journey,” she said in a YouTube clip.
“I am celebrating four years today, and I am super excited about it. It has changed my life more than I ever expected.”
Nikki lost the first 50lbs in less than five months, shedding an extra 20lbs six months later.
She and her husband scanned different meals in search of healthy alternatives to their favourite junk foods.
“We started to find different foods that we could have to create substitutes because we ate a lot of fast food,” she said.
“I wanted to continue eating those types of food because I knew we liked them, but I wanted to find the lower point options, whether it was at the restaurant or ones I could make at home.
“That’s when I started making lots of copy-cat meals which helped so much because you can have double the food for half the points, and it’s way more satisfying.
“Something we made all the time was make these fast food type meals at home using the healthier ingredients that we had.”
To help her stick to the new lifestyle, Nikki was careful to keep things as simple as possible.
She also stressed the importance of consistency, as this is key to making new habits stick.

Nikki explained that in her previous attempts to lose weight, her goals had been predominantly aesthetic, while this time round she was more focused on her health.
“I feel like that’s why I also had more success this time around, compared to all the other times I attempted to lose weight,” she said.
“Another thing I did this time around that was so helpful was reward myself for consistency. I took what I could control and rewarded myself for that.”
Rewarding every milestone can offer motivation to help slimmers stay committed to a healthier lifestyle.
