If you're looking to make a major weight loss transformation, think soup, salad or a stir-fry

Making a dramatic weight loss transformation can feel like a colossal undertaking, but it's possible to achieve great results with a few lifestyle changes.

Emma Hooker - also known as Emma Gets Fit on YouTube - lost a whopping 11st 6lb and now helps others achieve their weight loss goals. She credited her weight loss and subsequent weight maintenance to several habits and three key meals.

Emma was able to see incredible results by maintaining a high-protein, "safe and sustainable" calorie deficit, meaning not cutting calories too dramatically.

She focussed on the 80/20 rule, eating whole, healthy foods 80 per cent of the time. The other 20 per cent of the time she allowed herself to enjoy "fun" foods.

In one video, the weight loss guru told fellow slimmers: "If you want to lose weight without hating your life, you need to prioritise high volume." She said that soup, a salad and a stir-fry "are your best friends".

She explained that eating a salad helps you lose weight because it helps you "do more with less calories".

Chocolate, for example, is far more calorie-dense than salad leaves, meaning it has a higher number of calories per volume of food.

Healthier You explained: "Typically, calorie-dense foods are high in fat, salt, sugar and simple carbs whereas low-calorie density foods have a high water content and can be high in fibre or protein."

So, 400 calories worth of salad is also much more nutritious and filling than 400 calories worth of chocolate.

Emma advised other slimmers to "add in one large soup or salad today and see the difference".

Along with making mindful eating choices, the weight loss pro also upped her daily movement.

For those looking to make their own transformation, this doesn't necessarily mean spending time in the gym - although Emma is a gym advocate.

Emma also adopted healthy lifestyle habits in order to see results. Taking rest days was important, as was getting enough sleep, aiming for seven hours per night. She also tried to keep her stress levels low.

An expert explained why focusing on these two lifestyle habits can "make a big difference" in terms of weight loss.

A woman who lost nine stone shared that she saw results when pairing her favourite foods with a nutrient-dense snack.
