Brits can pick up the Coronation Colin the Caterpillar for £10 ahead of King Charles’ big day

Marks & Spencer’s Colin the Caterpillar has undergone a major makeover to celebrate King Charles’ Coronation in just two weeks’ time.

The 640 gram Coronation Colin the Caterpillar is available in stores today for £10.

Colin, who first hit M&S shelves in 1990, looks somewhat different to his usual self.

The latest variation of one of M&S’ most iconic confectionery items sees the King of Caterpillars wear a crown to mark Charles big day.

The extremely chocolatey sponge cake, which is filled with chocolate buttercream, is covered in milk chocolate and edible decorations.

M&S have also released the limited edition legend of five mini Colins for £3.

Colin the Caterpillar has had several transformations in 33-years, with Brits gobbling up more than 15 million of the cakes over the same period.

M&S released two versions last year to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

The monarch-inspired variations saw the female version, Connie the Caterpillar, have a white chocolate head with big eyelashes, pursed lips, a crown and a regal robe.

The second version resembled a corgi with a milk chocolate head, pink tongue, perked ears and Union Jack cape.

But M&S has unveiled other Coronation-inspired items as a part of its A Right Royal Celebration.

Royalist punters can enjoy commemorative biscuit tins and tea tins, giant gold Coronation milk chocolate coins, King of Everything Chocolates and Coronation sponge cake.

But it is not just Firm-related confectionery which M&S customers can enjoy.

Brits hoping to celebrate the Coronation between May 6 and May 8 can also enjoy numerous party picnic pieces.

Honey roast ham sausage rolls, nine crown pork sausage rolls and nine mini chutney topped crown pork pies are in store from May 3.

Coronation-inspired chicken club sandwiches and hand cooked crisps are already available for purchase.

For those eager to toast the King with an alcoholic beverage, M&S have an English sparkling wine from Balfour called Coronation Cuvee NV and a Herefordshire brewed Coronation Ale.

To round off celebrations, M&S Foundhalls are stocked with party essentials from bunting to paper plates and napkins to cake stands.
