The Tesla Takedown protesters will team up with the Campaign for Ukraine and the Ukraine Solidarity Campaign

The largest number of protests seen against Tesla in the UK will take place this weekend as the brand and its founder Elon Musk continue to face pressure from campaigners.

The UK chapter of Tesla Takedown announced that it would be protesting the electric vehicle manufacturer in several cities following action at its Oxford Street pop-up.

Protests will take place today (Saturday, April 12) in Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham, Leeds, London, Winchester, and, for the first time, Norwich.

The Tesla Takedown group said it would also be teaming up with the Campaign for Ukraine and the Ukraine Solidarity Campaign at its protest in Park Royal, London.

The activists said this was being done to "ask Elon to take a one-way ticket to Mars". April 12 is Cosmonautics Day in countries that used to be part of the Soviet Union, in celebration of Yuri Gagarin's trip to space.

It claims that "Ukrainians loathe and despise Elon for his role in the Trump-Putin axis that’s trying to divide their country", in addition to his interference with the Starlink technology in the region.

Tesla Takedown promises a Musk air dancer, a performance piece with a Mars theme, as well as speeches and "lots of honking".

The electric vehicle manufacturer continues to come under attack from protesters, looking to target Elon Musk for his political affiliations with right-wing groups and the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

An art performance in Loughborough Junction, London, recently saw people invited to destroy a Tesla electric vehicle in an "act of resistance" against Elon Musk.

The "Everyone Hates Elon" campaign clarified that the non-running Tesla was headed for the scrap yard, with the project's costs being covered by an anonymous individual.

According to the group, the battery will be recycled and the remainder of the vehicle will be auctioned as an art piece, with proceeds going to local food banks.

Images from the event show people with protective helmets swinging baseball bats and sledgehammers at the 2014 Model S, while others wrote on the vehicle. Messages included "Billionaires suck" and "Tax the rich".

Tesla also launched a new Cybertruck in the United States as drivers can get their hands on a long-range variant for $69,990 (£53,462).

Drivers making use of the Federal Tax Credit can save a further $7,500 (£5,720), bringing prices down to $62,490 (£47,673).

This is believed to be the final update to Tesla's lineup of vehicles before the launch of the upgraded Model Y later this year, with a new design and improved range.

It comes as Tesla continues to make headway across the world, with Saudi Arabia becoming the latest nation to welcome electric vehicles to its roads.
