The Renault 5 is returning to the UK market after almost 40 years since its first conception this time as an all-electric vehicle that features a baguette holder.
The original Renault 5 sold over 5.5 million units globally between 1972 to 1985, with the new model expected to arrive in the UK in 2025.
Inside the vehicle, the storage capacity is provided by various compartments around the cabin which can be configured and customised using 3D-printed accessories, including a baguette holder.
The Renault 5 E-Tech fuses together design elements from three models, the Renault 5, Supercinq and Renault 5 Turbo.

The electric vehicle will be available in five colours: pop yellow and pop green, arctic white, diamond black and midnight blue.
Renault design boss Gilles Vidal, said: “That was [Renault CEO] Luca de Meo’s idea. It’s funny, we often think he could be a designer.
“We thought about putting a beret on the headrests, but that was a bit much.”
Inside the Renault 5 E-Tech, the dashboard features a padded transverse layout with a rectangular instrument cluster with rounded edges.

Vidal added: “The older generations will relate and have a connection to the 5 but my kids are fairly young, for example, and they don’t know these old cars.
“We designed this car so it would be interesting and attractive for what it is, without needing to relate to its history.”
The seats are made from recycled plastic water bottles with the denim fabric also used on the dashboard and door panels on the Techno version.
It is fitted with a 10-inch digital instrument panel and a central multimedia screen which is powered by the OpenR Link system with Google built-in for the Techno.

The battery holds 52 kWh and provides drivers with a range of up to 248 miles (400km)before charging. The vehicle also has a towing capacity of 500kg.
The Renault 5 E-Tech was unveiled at the 2024 Geneva International Motor Show.
Its 110kW battery version can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in under eight seconds and from 50 to 75 mph in under seven seconds.
Outside the car, the vehicle will also be available on the smartphone app which features a series of video tutorials to help users learn more about the car.
