Drivers could save hundreds of pounds a year by charging their EVs at home
GETTYThe £30 subscription from Octopus can charge one electric vehicle. Customers can choose a "ready by" time between 4am and 11am to enjoy the greenest energy possible at a fixed, low price.
Drivers who make use of the new Intelligent Drive Pack will pay two-fifths of what petrol car owners typically spend on fuel each month.
Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, Chief Product Officer at Octopus Energy, commented on the launch of the offer and the benefits it could deliver for motorists.
said: "You can’t even get a nice meal out at a restaurant for £30 anymore – but you can get a whole month’s worth of driving.
"Intelligent Drive Pack is a completely new way to save - perfect for drivers who want predictability, flexibility and great value rolled into one.
"It's another step towards making electric cars the obvious choice for everyone."
Octopus already has a foothold with electric vehicle owners thanks to its smart EV tariff, which now has more than 260,000 customers.
The Intelligent Octopus Go tariff allows drivers to charge their vehicles at much lower prices overnight, often making use of green energy.
Customers must have a working smart meter and either be on an Octopus Fixed or Flexible Octopus tariff for their home energy supply.
Octopus added that it was offering the new Intelligent Drive Pack to "make the switch to electric driving a no-brainer, with a fair, flexible solution for all types of drivers".
Drivers with an Octopus tariff can charge their vehicles for as little as 7p/kWh, delivering far cheaper costs than someone filling up with petrol or diesel.
According to EV charging database Zapmap, there are more than 1.5 million charging devices around the UK at homes or workplaces.
