More than 226,000 vehicles were recalled by Hyundai, according to new documents filed with the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It said it would be recalling certain 2021-2022 Santa Fe, Santa Fe HEV, Elantra, Elantra HEV and 2022 Elantra N and Santa Fe PHEV vehicles amid fears the rearview camera image may fail to display.

The rearview camera may have been equipped with insufficient solder joints on the camera’s printed circuit board (PCB), which may worsen over time increasing the risk of camera failure during operation.

It warned that this rearview camera issue could reduce visibility when reversing, increasing the risk of injury to bystanders and the risk of a crash.

All owners of impacted vehicles will be notified by the South Korean manufacturer to bring their vehicles to a dealer for a replacement of the rearview camera.

The remedy will be free, regardless of whether the affected vehicles are still covered under Hyundai’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Hyundai will also provide owners of the 226,118 vehicles with reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses incurred to obtain a remedy for the recall condition.

It warned that the detached sunroof panel could become a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash occurring.

Impacted vehicles include the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (2001-2011), CLK (2001-2011), E-Class (2001-2011) and the CLS (2001-2011).

The German luxury automaker announced it would be recalling 2,941 of its 2024-2025 Macan electric vehicles in response to lamps, reflective and associated equipment.

It warned that when upper beams are activated, the Safety Standard performance of photometric intensity may be exceeded, potentially leading to a higher risk of accidents.

The NHTSA documents state that this was caused by a software data set error, which has since been corrected.
