Renault Group has made significant progress in its decarbonisation efforts since launching its Renaulution strategic plan in 2021.
The company has achieved a 40 per cent reduction in its in-use CO2e emissions between 2019 and 2024. During the same period, Renault has cut its industry emissions by 50 per cent.
This success stems from positioning decarbonisation at the same level as competitiveness and performance indicators.
Renault Group said the strategy has brought a "transversal approach" to sustainability across all departments and business levels.
Josep-Maria Recasens, Chief Strategy Officer of Renault Group and CEO of Ampere, highlighted the company's commitment to sustainability.
He said: "Renault Group's commitment to sustainability has enabled us to meet the challenges facing the industry in recent years.
"We have embraced the electrical and software transition in an inclusive way, upgrading and reskilling our employees through ReKnow University."
Recasens added that Renault has "invested in closed loops in Europe" to counter raw material volatility.
Renault already offers a number of electric vehicles in the UK, including the 5 E-Tech, R5 Turbo 3E, 4 E-Tech, Scenic E-Tech and the Megane E-Tech.
Compared to a 2019 petrol Captur, which produces 50 tonnes of CO2, the Emblème emits just five tonnes over its lifecycle.
The concept car demonstrates that family vehicles can combine practicality with radical emissions reduction.
Renault said its sustainability strategy has been key to the brand's development, as seen with The Refactory in Flins, France, which has been transformed into Europe's first industrial site dedicated to the mobility circular economy.
