Lanes are closed on the M25 between J27 and J28 following the collision

Drivers have been warned of huge delays this morning on a major motorway after a lorry and another vehicle collided.

The crash has caused three lanes of the M25 anticlockwise to shut this morning between J27 and J28 with long delays expected.

The incident took place on the M11 interchange at J28 of the motorway which has caused the A12 and the Brentwood/Brook Street roundabout as well as junction 27 of M11 to see traffic crawl to 12mph.

National Highways stated that emergency services are in attendance with drivers currently experiencing 90 minutes worth of delays on the approach and 7.5 miles of congestion.

Essex Police said: "We are currently at the scene of a collision on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25, between junctions 27 and 28.

"At about 7:15am we received reports that a lorry and a car were involved in a collision.

"Two lanes of the road are currently blocked. Drivers should expect delays and plan their journeys accordingly.

"We are currently working at the scene with emergency service colleagues and would like to thank the public for their patience."

Alongside emergency services, National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.

The agency shared: "If this closure impacts your planned route, please allow extra journey time as there are over eight miles of congestion on approach.

"Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."

Updating drivers on the incident, National Highways said lane three has now reopened with two lanes still shut while emergency services remain at the scene.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson told GB News: "We were called at 7.15am with reports of a road traffic collision on the M25 between junctions 27 and 28, involving a car and a lorry.

"An ambulance was sent to the scene. The driver of the car, an adult female, was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital for further care."

This incident has now cleared with all lanes re-opened but a 90-minute delay remains on approach to the area with the agency staying "it should now start to ease, thanks for your patience this morning".
