Drivers are being urged to prepare for the new generation of electric cars this year with major brands set to launch new flagship models.
Electric cars have been growing massively in popularity with many supporting the electric revolution, highlighted by a 41 per cent growth in new zero emission vehicle registrations between July and September 2023.
With a new year upon us, motorists looking to get their hands on new electric cars could be in luck as brands look to ramp up their electric ambitions.
To celebrate the new year, Carwow has compiled a list of the most anticipated electric vehicles of 2024 and what drivers can expect from new technologies.
The Audi Q6 e-tron

The German brand is already a mainstay in the electric vehicle industry with its e-tron line, and experts are hoping for the Q6 to dominate the market.
It will feature a world’s first “active digital light signature” helping drivers benefit from a distinctive design and sleek aesthetics.
The latest generation of e-tron is expected to cost around £60,000 with the SUV coming with an impressive range of around 370 miles.
The new electric Ford Explorer

The historic brand has made headlines in recent months by backing electric vehicle technology, with Ford looking set to take on the Chinese manufacturers looking to break into the Western market.
Commenting on the new Ford, Mat Watson, chief content officer at Carwow, said: “It arguably lacks some of the funky styling or gimmicks that make some of the newcomers so exciting, but its simple, stylish design and proven underpinnings are exactly what make it so appealing.
“Based on Volkswagen’s ID electric vehicles, there’s a good mix of motor and battery options with a top range of 335 miles. And the interior has been overhauled so it looks like a massive upgrade on what we’ve seen in the likes of the ID3.”
The new MG Cyberster EV

The new EV drop-top sports car has been heralded as an “exciting new chapter” by the British-Chinese brand, with it being crowned as 2024’s Most Anticipated New Car at Carwow’s UK Car of the Year Awards.
Drivers can get their hands on the Cyberster from mid-2024 and is expected to have a price point of around £50,000.
Mat Watson said it made “perfect sense” for the brand to release an equivalent to the MG roadster, with the EV coming in a single-motor form producing 340hp and a twin-motor setup bringing a staggering 540bhp model.
Drivers may opt for the relatively cheap Fisker Ocean as their EV of choice

One of the most intriguing electric cars on the list is the American brand’s latest movement into the EV space, despite having a complicated history with battery development and long waiting times.
The Ocean has a range of up to 440 miles with its Hyper Range Battery, as well as going from 0-60mph in just 3.7 seconds when making use of the 564bhp “Peak” option.
The EV also sees the introduction of SolarSky, which will see solar panels placed on the roof of the vehicle, with the “extreme” version potentially producing up to 1,500 “clean, emissions-free” miles every year. Ideal conditions could see the car benefit from an extra 2,000 miles.
The Porsche Macan

Mat Watson said: “This is the firm’s second electric car, but its first electric SUV – though there will still be a combustion-engined Macan on sale as well.
“It’s the electric one that’s most intriguing, because it promises to be the sportiest electric SUV you can buy, a promise we can get behind because Porsche has previous in making SUVs, and electric cars, great to drive.
“The top-spec model will have over 600hp, so it should be just as exciting accelerating out of corners as it is going through them.”
