New data has shown which cities across the UK are more likely to see drivers hit with expensive fines with some cities seeing a rates of 900 per cent above the national average.
Parking has constantly been an issue for motorists around the UK with expensive permits and new laws being introduced on a regular basis.
Research has shown that Manchester issues the most parking fines per person, with the city council slapping drivers with 456,270 fines between 2020 and 2021.
Per 100,000 residents, more than 99,000 penalty charge notices (PCNs) were handed out, a staggering 901 per cent difference from the national average.

Manchester City Council issues the most parking fines per person

Of these fines, 660 parking fines were appealed with just 478 being successfully overturned.
Manchester is closely followed by Brighton and Hove City Council, which saw a rate of 98,583 fines issued per 100,000 people.
The council issued fines at a rate of 893 per cent higher than the national average of 9,922 per 100,000 people.
After Manchester and Brighton and Hove, Reading Borough Council is in third place, although their issuance rate is far smaller than the councils topping the list.
Despite this, Reading surpasses the national average by 671 per cent with 132,636 motorists in the city being slapped with a fine.
A spokesperson for Claims.co.uk said: “The findings from the study on Penalty Charge Notices in the UK reveal a diverse picture across regions.
“There are notable differences in the frequency of these notices, with some areas demonstrating higher incidence than others.
“Moreover, the data suggests a noteworthy trend where more rural locations tend to register comparatively lower numbers, potentially due to the lack of need for parking enforcement infrastructure."

Carmarthenshire in Wales had the highest successful appeal rate of any UK area, with 93.75 per cent of people having their fines overturned.
Drivers looking to avoid parking fines should visit the borough council of Hyndburn in Lancashire which is the area least likely to be hit with a PCN.
Only 46 penalty charge notices were issued between 2020 and 2021, at a rate of just 56 fines per 100,000 residents.
