Drivers urged to buy iconic Ferrari number plates as auction could see motorists fork out £30,000

The licence plates include 458 FNE which has appeared on four press cars between 2011 and 2014, including three 458 Italia models.

The plate is on offer with a guide price between £2,000 and £3,000 while F1 CAL which has appeared on six FNE cars between 2009 and 2016 is on sale between roughly £1,000 and £1,500.

F1 FWE, registered on behalf of Ferrari West Europe in Paris, is up for grabs at auction for between £1,000 and £1,500.

Bids can be placed in person, online or via the telephone on the day of the event or a commission can be placed in advance via the Iconic Auctioneers website.

The sales from the auction will be live streamed on the website on the day allowing those around the world to take part in the event.

Elsewhere, F8 TRB appeared on the FNE press car F8 Tributo in 2020 as is on sale with a guide price between £1,000 and £1,500.

V12 SFT appeared on two press cars including 812 Superfast in 2018 and 2019, while the plate V70 LAF appeared on the very limited series LaFerrari Aperta and is on offer for between £1,000 and £1,500.

All proceeds from the sale are being donated to charity, with Iconic Auctioneers also agreeing to donate the buyer’s fees for each sale, adding a further 10 per cent to the amount raised.

V8 SCU also appeared on a press car is available at auction with a price guide between £1,000 and £1,500.

The charity partner for this auction is Ben, which has seen a 26 per cent increase in calls to its helpline due to the cost of living crisis since 2022 impacting on the health and well-being of people in the automotive industry.

The funds raised from the sale will be used to help provide further support to those in the automotive industry who are struggling or in crisis.

In 2023 Ferrari sold 13,663 units, an increase of 442 cars compared to 13,221 in 2022. This included 11 internal combustion engine models and four hybrid engine models, which represented 55.8 per cent and 44.2 per cent of shipments, respectively.

Both the number of hybrid cars and the proportion of hybrid cars shipped, more than doubled in 2023 compared to 2022.

The DVLA run private licence plate auctions for drivers, with the next auction taking place from Wednesday, March 20, to Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

The DVLA announced that it had held its final in-person registration auction in October at Stratford Manor.

Roads Minister Richard Holden said: "With DVLA raising almost £15million in the past three auctions, I’m particularly excited to be on the podium for the last ever in-person auction to seal some of the bids and see people take home their perfect registration.”
