Buckinghamshire Police launched 14 new enforcement cameras across the region

A major authority is set to activate new traffic enforcement cameras at 14 locations this month in a bid to improve road safety.

The expansion by Buckinghamshire Council follows its acquisition of enforcement powers and initial camera installations in 2023.

The new cameras will monitor various traffic violations at trouble spots that were specifically nominated by local residents and businesses across the region.

These locations, spanning areas including Padbury, Chesham, Iver, and High Wycombe, have been identified as areas with low compliance where motorists frequently break traffic restrictions.

The enforcement cameras will automatically detect these infractions and enable the council to issue penalty charge notices (PCNs) to offending drivers.

Additional signage will be installed at all enforcement locations to warn motorists about the presence of cameras.

The new enforcement cameras will be installed across multiple key locations throughout Buckinghamshire.

In Aylesbury, cameras will monitor the A41 Exchange Street, where right turns into Waitrose Car Park and from Exchange Street Car Park will be prohibited.

The town will also see enforcement on Oxford Road's bus lane and yellow box junction.High Wycombe will have three camera locations, including the A40 London Road bus lane and yellow box junctions on Oxford Road and Amersham Hill.

In Chesham, cameras will enforce a banned right turn from Bellingdon Lane onto St Marys Way (A416) and a no entry restriction on Moor Road.

Iver will see weight limit enforcement on both Bangors Road North and South, restricting goods vehicles exceeding 7.5tonne except for loading.

Additional locations include Padbury's Lower Way no entry restriction and Denham's prohibited right turns on Oxford Road and the A412 North Orbital.

Cabinet Member for Transport Steven Broadbent said: "All 14 of these new camera locations were nominated by residents and businesses as trouble spots or recognised as being areas of low compliance where motorists are more likely to break Moving Traffic restrictions.

During this initial period, motorists caught breaking the rules will receive a warning letter for their first offence. However, Broadbent warned that “if you are caught again though, you will receive a fine."

The council has implemented a six-month grace period for first-time offenders at these locations.
