Bed bugs are most active at this time of year
Bed bugs thrive during the change of seasons and are most likely to be found in September.
They are often difficult to spot but a common sign is if itchy spots appear on the body.
It is also easier to see them at night and they are most active between 2am and 5am.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, brand specialist of Zinus Victoria Cedeno shared advice on how to avoid the pests.
A certain mattress or bed frame can make all the difference

This can come down to the type of mattress and bed frame homeowners choose to go with.
She said: "If you’re looking for new ways to limit the risk of bed bugs, then consider a memory foam mattress over a traditional, innerspring mattress.
"Memory foam mattresses typically have fewer seams, folds, and crevices compared to other types, making it slightly harder for bed bugs to find hiding spots within the mattress itself."
While buying a new mattress is a big commitment, it could drastically reduce the amount of pests in the bed.
Bed bugs have fewer places to hide in memory foam and will be most attracted to it.
The pests are a big fan of warm conditions so a metal bed frame is likely to put them off, the expert claimed.
Victoria suggested: "Bed bugs also thrive and fester in warm environments, so another option you could consider is opting for a metal framed bed.
"The smooth, cool and robust surface of metal doesn’t offer an ideal place for bed bugs to manifest, therefore deterring them away.”
