Bathrooms can be a breeding ground for bacteria and it is important to regularly clean all parts of the room

Homeowners should generally aim to clean their bathroom once a week, or more frequently if needed.

There are different cleaning products available for all parts of the bathroom.

But homeowners could save money and time by opting for items they already have in the home.

How to clean a toilet

Bicarbonate of soda and vinegar could be a winning combination for cleaning a toilet, according to cleaning expert Sarah Dempsey from MyJobQuote.co.uk, who teamed up with Victoria Plum.

She said: "Pour a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and vinegar into the toilet and direct under the rim with a toilet brush.

"Leave for 10 to 15 minutes then scrub and flush."

How to clean a shower head

The shower head is often forgotten about during a cleaning session, but it can hold on to grime.

Fortunately, the vinegar and baking soda mixture could also come in handy here.

Sarah continued: "Remove your shower head and put it into a plastic bag.

"Fill the bag with distilled vinegar and a spoon of bicarbonate of soda to remove encrusted limescale.

"Soak for an hour and then rinse for sparkling results."
