The summer bank holiday in England, Wales and Northern Ireland falls on Monday, August 26

Britons looking to do some supermarket shopping or retail therapy this weekend may need to adjust their plans slightly according to bank holiday timings.

GB News has rounded up the opening times for Tesco, Aldi, Asda, Sainsbury's and more this weekend and bank holiday Monday.


August Bank Holiday opening times

Tesco

Tesco's opening hours over the August bank holiday vary by location, so customers are advised to check their local store's opening times on Tesco's store locator: https://www.tesco.com/store-locator.

The store locator is also the best place to check for Petrol Filling Station opening times, as these can differ from main store opening hours.

On Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25, Tesco Express and large stores will be open as usual.

On Monday, August 26, the majority of Tesco's large stores across England and Wales will be open from 8am to 6pm. In Scotland, the majority of Tesco's large stores will be open from 8am to 8pm.

The majority of Tesco's large stores in Northern Ireland will be open as usual. Most Express stores will be open as usual.

Aldi

Aldi has updated its hours for the bank holiday weekend

Aldi

Standard opening hours will remain in place at stores across the UK on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25.

Stores in England and Wales will be open until 8pm on Monday, August 26, while in Scotland stores will close at 10pm as usual.

The opening times of some stores may vary, so customers are advised to check their local store on Aldi’s website before heading to the supermarket.

Asda

Opening times vary across stores, so customers should check individual store opening times by using Asda's Store Locator: https://storelocator.asda.com/.

However, most stores will operate on the same schedule. The majority of Asda stores will be open from 7am to 10pm on Saturday, close on Sunday and re-open on bank holiday Monday from 7am to 10pm.

Sainsbury's

The vast majority of Sainsbury's supermarkets will be open from 8am to 8pm on Monday, August 26. Convenience stores will be open as usual from 7am to 11pm.

Lidl

Customers will be able to shop as usual on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25.

On Monday, August 26, all Lidl stores in England (outside the M25) and Wales will be open from 8am to 8pm. Within the M25, customers can shop between 8am to 10pm, while stores in Scotland will remain open as normal.

Waitrose

Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 will be normal trading days at Waitrose.

On Monday, August 26, most Waitrose shops will be open from 8am to 6pm, but customers are advised to check the official website for details of specific shops.
