Asda will open 110 new stores across the UK this month including two today - full list

It will open more convenience stores as part of an ongoing project to convert stores it acquired from the Co-op and EG Group.

A total of 110 new branches will begin trading this month as it works towards reaching 1,000 UK stores.

A number of Asda Express locations have already opened with stores in Leicester and Shrewsbury opening today.

While the convenience branches are smaller than its other supermarkets, they will stock up to 3,000 items.

This will include branded products, own-label foods and everything shoppers need to cook a quick dinner or lunch.

Prices are to remain low, as it claimed groceries will be eight per cent cheaper than the Co-op stores it is replaced, and 15 per cent cheaper than the EG Group locations.

"February is a transformational month for the programme with a record number of store openings and conversion of all former Co-op sites to Asda Express sites.

"The teams have worked at pace to reach this point and we look forward to bringing Asda’s quality and low prices to many more communities across the UK.”
