Skin ageing is natural but there are some ways to slow down how quickly signs of ageing appear

Wrinkles and fine lines are a natural part of ageing that should be embraced, but still most people will not want to look older than they are.

Speaking exclusively to GB News, an expert shared a daily tip everyone must follow to slow down the signs of ageing.

Cosmetic treatments can help how the skin looks but there are also many natural ways to look after the skin as well.

Medical aesthetic injector and skin specialist Emma Wedgwood said SPF should be a staple in everyone's routine.

The expert explained: "The number one skin care tip that everyone can follow is to wear sunscreen daily. Regardless of skin type, tone, or age, applying broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 is essential.

"UV radiation from the sun is a primary cause of premature ageing, hyperpigmentation, and an increased risk of skin cancer."

Britons should apply sunscreen before going outside, even when it is not particularly sunny. Cloudy days are deceptive as UV rays can still break through and cause unwanted damage to the skin.

Apply sunscreen to the face before putting on make-up and opt for an SPF of at least 30 to get the best protection.

The expert explained another way to avoid early ageing is to steer clear of tanning beds.

Emma continued: "Consistent use of sunscreen helps protect the skin from harmful UV rays, preventing damage and maintaining a youthful complexion.

"Avoiding tanning beds and prolonged sun exposure is crucial, as these can accelerate skin ageing and increase the risk of melanoma."

A make-up artist spoke to GB News to share how women can appear to age backwards with a few simple tricks, including picking the right foundation.

She said: "Makeup can be your best friend when it comes to achieving a more youthful look.

"Start with a brightening primer that contains moisturising and anti-ageing ingredients. This will add a gorgeous glow and youthful radiance to your complexion.

"For your base makeup, go for something lightweight and luminous - heavy foundations can settle into fine lines and can look ageing on your skin."
