Peanut allergy is one of the most common causes of life-threatening allergic reactions to food, according to the Mayo Clinic.
In allergic individuals, exposure to peanuts can trigger the body’s immune system to have a life-threatening response known as anaphylaxis.
The reaction typically starts within minutes and causes skin reactions like hives, redness and swelling.
Some individuals experience tightness of the throat, shortness of breath and wheezing. Digestive problems may also include diarrhoea and vomiting.
Customers have been urged to return the products as Aldi contacts relevant allergy support organisations.
“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers,” added the FSA. “These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products.”
It continued: “If you have bought any of the above products and have an allergy to peanuts, do not eat them.
