Those looking to reduce their blood sugar levels need to consider the food and drinks they consume.
A nutritionist has shared what to eat and drink to help regulate blood glucose, focusing on drinking healthy drinks and eating a nutritious breakfast.
Expert at Health Coach Academy Ann Garry said: "Hydration plays a vital role in glucose regulation. [It's important to drink] the best drinks for blood sugar control."
Sharing exclusively with GB News, the nutritionist recommended four drinks to regulate blood glucose.
Ann recommended having green tea and cinnamon tea. She said: "Green tea contains catechins that improve insulin sensitivity and cinnamon tea lowers fasting blood sugar levels and improves insulin function."
Lemon water is a good option as "the citric acid in lemons helps slow down carbohydrate absorption".
Ann added: "Have apple cider vinegar water. A tablespoon in a glass of water before meals can help control post-meal glucose."
Aside from drinks, it is important "to start the day with a slow release, blood sugar balancing breakfast".
Ann said: "Have Greek yoghurt with nuts and seeds. They are high in protein and healthy fats, and this combination slows digestion and helps maintain steady glucose levels.
"Have eggs, any way you like them. They're packed with protein, promote satiety and help prevent sugar spikes."
Another option to consider is chia seed pudding, which is "loaded with fibre and omega-3s", helping to reduce post-meal blood sugar rises.
Ann suggested: "[Another option is] avocado on high-fibre, whole grain bread. It provides fibre, healthy fats, and a slow-release energy source."
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
Aside from eating and drinking the right foods, another nutritionist shared three unusual hacks that help stabilise blood glucose.
The expert spoke exclusively to GB News and said exposure to cold can activate brown fat which improves glucose metabolism.
They said: "Try ending your shower with 30 to 60 seconds of cold water, or even a cold plunge.
When the cold water hits your body, "try big long exhales out whilst projecting your voice. This keeps your nervous system balanced but also helps to stimulate dopamine".
