The importance of physical activity in promoting longevity is no secret, with several individuals crediting their long lives to exercise.
An 86-year-old has explained that while keeping active is important, you need some form of motivation.
Stephen spoke on TikTok (@Stephen/Pondering Thoughts) about how he has lived a long life and what individuals should focus on for their own longevity.
He said: "What keeps me young is not so much physical work. It's my mental capabilities. I still like to look at things, learn and question things. There's no quit in me."

The octogenarian explained that he does not feel his age and is still "so excited about life".
He said: "I do not have my head around how old I really am because I do not feel that way. I still feel like I am in my 40s, early 50s."
Stephen stated how he keeps his youthful behaviour by finding a purpose in everything he does.
He noted: "I'm going to be 87 in a few months and there are so many opportunities out there still."
When asked what he would tell younger people who are curious about finding motivation, he encouraged them to look at their age and realise how much future they have ahead of them.
The 86-year-old said: "If anybody has a right to say they feel old, it's me. For you to say 'I'm old' - what are you talking about?
"Young people today think that they are old when they reach their 30s. I do not understand; you still have so much ahead of you; take advantage of it."
The octogenarian emphasised that individuals should view "life as a series of journeys" and "it is a great one".

In other longevity news, a 99-year-old has shared how she lived a long life, crediting something her aunt told her.
Dorothy Wiggins, who turns 100 on August 14, 2025, spoke on the YouTube channel Seeds Of Success by Sprouht about her longevity.
She said: "My father's sister used to tell me, 'Dorothy, live in the present. Do not live in the past; just live in the present'. She would always say that to me, and it had some effect. I do live in the present and try to enjoy each moment."
Dorothy feels that many people do not live in the moment or enjoy their lives because they let themselves get "bothered".
