This week was a busy week, with one of the highlights being an invite we received to attend the 10th anniversary lunch party for two gay friends, who also renewed their vows in church.
Years ago, as the deputy president of the National Union of Students, I led the campaign for gay rights. Our two friends didn’t want a civil partnership when that was made legal, they wanted to wait for a marriage which eventually they got. And it was a delight.
Another event that was less joyful took us back to church again this week.
This time it was the funeral of our local garage and filling station owner.
I told you about him in my diary last week and explained what a key part of the community he was.
It was amazing to see so many people there, he was so popular and liked.
The church was overflowing, and there were even folk standing in the church yard during the service.
The eulogy reminded us how honest he was simply because it was the right thing to be: I found that so refreshing.
The charity Age Concern got in touch this week too because they are seeking support for their dementia work. I am delighted to assist.
There are many charities, local and national, doing what they can to support people, and if you or your partner ever gets a diagnosis, I’d advise that you seek them out.
As for work, the media continues to reflect on the GB News debate between Kemi and Robert for the Tory Leadership which Christopher Hope, GB News' Political Editor, managed so ably.
The winner will have to respond to Rachel Reeves’ first Budget… a hell of a challenge for anyone as she pulls many tax raising bunnies out of her hat and as she changes the fiscal rules.
I can’t wait to be part of the GB News team for their coverage on the day.

The challenges of public spending came into sharp focus for many this week as another drug that could help Alzheimer’s sufferers was rejected by NICE for NHS use.
Experts judged it wasn’t good value for money.
So the research and work continue for the entire dementia family - including us with vascular dementia.
