The 32-year-old actor discussed the role following Daniel Craig’s exit after his fifth appearance as 007 in 2021 film No Time To Die

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has added fuel to the flames of rumours that he is set to be the next James Bond by meeting with producers of the film franchise.

The 32-year-old actor discussed the role following Daniel Craig’s exit after his fifth appearance as 007 in the 2021 film No Time To Die.

Puck News claim Aaron sat down with producer Barbara Broccoli in a meeting that went “very well” after he reportedly filmed a secret audition in the latter stages of last year.

The source went on to add that nothing was officially confirmed and the next steps are unclear.

In December it was claimed that Aaron had shot scenes as the secret agent, filming the iconic “gun barrel teaser footage”.

A source told The Sun: “Aaron has impressed bosses so much that he has filmed one of the franchise’s famous gun barrel teaser scenes, something all the actors do.

“That move takes him a step closer to signing a deal.”

The next James Bond will be taking the reins from Daniel Craig, who starred in five 007 films.

They added: “Bosses at the brand were really impressed with his unique blend of acting intensity and his impressive back catalogue of action films.”

Aaron was said to have struck a chord with producers, with Barbara in particular being impressed.

“Aaron went for a screen test to be the next Bond in September and producers and Barbara loved him. He is now one of the front-runners,” a source told the publication at the time.

The actor has starred in blockbusters such as Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of UItron and Godzilla.

It comes following reports suggesting former favourite Idris Elba walked away from “years of talks” to become the new 007.

Other stars such as Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy and James Norton are among the frontrunners for the role, with the former recently putting himself at the forefront by leaving his role as The Witcher in the hit Netflix series.

54-year-old Daniel Craig stepped away from the role after starring in five Bond films, from Casino Royale to No Time to Die.
