The poignant post comes shortly after Don opened up in an interview about grief and how he finds comfort in nature.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4, he reflected: "One of the things that has always moved me, and this has often been said by people who are grieving, is that the rhythm of the seasons is a huge comforter.
"In the bleakest midwinter, you trust that spring will come, that the blossom will appear.
"You sow a seed and you trust that it will flower. Now, sometimes it doesn't. I mean everything is complicated and nothing is linear like that. But underneath it all, there is that rhythm of nature
"And I think more than ever we need that. Everybody needs it always and always has done."
Earlier this year, Don stunned fans when he revealed he had to stage scenes for BBC's Gardeners' World, admitting to re-scattering already cleaned leaves to capture the perfect autumn raking sequence.
The broadcaster, who has been hosting the show since 2003, shared the behind-the-scenes secret in Gardeners' World magazine.
The show follows a carefully orchestrated schedule, with filming taking place 10 days ahead of broadcast to allow time for editing.
Monty Don shared a post about his late friend
BBCExplaining the process, Don said: “When I go round the garden prior to the meeting I am weighing up what will be relevant in three weeks' time, as well as what is looking at its best right now.”
In a candid revelation about the show's production techniques, he shared a specific example from last autumn's filming.
"Last October, the leaves on the Long Walk were immaculately raked and taken to the Leafmould Bay, but we wanted to film the process.
“So I had to scatter them over the grass again, ready for filming!" he disclosed.
