Wynne Evans in BBC Strictly ‘fix’ row as fans accuse judges of ‘protecting’ star amid ‘hand incident’ saga
BBC
The Go Compare singer has been at the forefront of headlines this week after an incident involving himself and Katya Jones
Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left outraged and claimed the show has been “fixed” for Wynne Evans after he was given three nines for his Quickstep – despite the saga last week.
During the live show last Saturday, Evans was seen placing his arm around Katya Jones’ waist and sliding it further onto her stomach – seemingly leaving her displeased and to swiftly push him away.
The incident was quickly picked up by eagle-eyed fans leaving the pair to make an apology video on Instagram shortly after noticing the buzz.
Clarifying that it was a “joke”, Jones explained: "We just wanted to say we were messing around," while Evans added, "We wanted to say sorry. It was a silly joke."
She later took to her Instagram on Sunday morning and reiterated: “Happy Sunday everyone. Now, I need to make something crystal clear...
“The hand incident that happened on Saturday night was an inside - a very silly, very silly inside joke between Wynne and I.

"So even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in me in any way is complete nonsense. It's quite absurd actually.
"Now, can we just focus on how brilliantly he's doing and what an amazing dancer he's becoming?"
Evans also addressed the incident with his BBC Radio Wales colleagues and added: “I'm absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day.
"It's not nice to live in that time, but basically Katya and I are really, really close and we're really good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke.

"It was a stupid joke that went wrong, okay? We thought it was funny. It wasn't funny. It has been totally misinterpreted.
"Everything's on Katya’s socials. She's talked about it, she's explained that it was a joke. She wasn't offended in the least. She doesn't feel uncomfortable."
Tonight, fans accused the BBC show of “fixing” the scores in a bid to put the incident behind them and make Evans and Jones’ relationship look better than ever.
One penned on X: “To give Wynne and Kataya two 9s for the worst dance tonight just shows how fixed it is. Trying to change the public's mind? ....it ain't gonna work.”

Someone else added: “How over the top do you have to go in marking Wynne & Katya 9 - ridiculous.. And all because of the bad behaviour last week that you don’t want anyone to believe.”
A third said: “That score for Wynne and Katya was absolutely b******s btw, smacks of trying to protect him because they know people might not vote after the drama last week. #Strictly.”
Another expressed: “Here we go. Wynne and Katya. They got their highest score and then either he did something dodgy and she’s covering. Or it was a planned ‘joke’ like they said. I just don’t get what’s meant to be funny about groping?”
“Overplaying the 'comedy' between Wynne and Katya. Stop taking the p**s, we see you,” a fifth added before another noted: “9???? F**k off. Guess who @bbcstrictly are stacking the decks for. Ain’t gonna happen now. Wynne Evans needs to be gone.” (sic)
