The grieving star has updated fans on his upcoming tour, which he postponed in light of the recent Liam Payne tragedy

One Direction star Zayn Malik has announced the rescheduled dates for his US tour, which he postponed following the tragic death of his former bandmate Liam Payne.

The singer took to Instagram to share the new dates for his Stairway to the Sky tour, which will now kick off on January 21, 2025, in Washington DC.

Malik will perform seven shows across North America, including stops in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. The tour will conclude on February 3 in San Francisco.

The 31-year-old had originally been set to begin his first-ever solo US tour on October 23 in San Francisco. However, he made the decision to postpone the dates after Payne's untimely passing on October 16.

In a statement to his 54.2 million Instagram followers, Malik said: "Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I've made the decision to postpone the US leg of the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour."

The singer assured fans that their existing tickets would remain valid for the new dates. He added: "Love you all and thank you for your understanding."

Malik's UK tour dates, which are set to begin on November 20 in Edinburgh, remain unchanged according to his spokesman.

The rescheduled US tour will see Malik performing hits from his latest album, Room Under the Stairs, which he wrote over the past six years in rural Pennsylvania.

Released in May this year, the album debuted at number three on the UK Albums Chart.

Payne tragically passed away last week at the age of 31. The former One Direction singer fell from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Payne had been in the country for several weeks and had even attended former bandmate Niall Horan's concert earlier in the month.

The news of his sudden death sent shockwaves through the music industry and devastated fans worldwide.

Following the tragedy, the remaining One Direction members released a joint statement expressing their grief.

They each also made individual tributes online, with Malik sharing a heartfelt tribute to Payne on social media, revealing the depth of their friendship and his regret at not having thanked Payne for his support during difficult times.

In his emotional post, Malik wrote: "Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can't help but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives."

He continued: "When I was missing home as a 17 yr old kid you would always be there with a positive outlook and reassuring smile and let me know you were my friend and that I was loved."

Malik acknowledged their occasional disagreements, stating: "Even though we butted heads because of this a few times, I always secretly respected you for it."

The singer praised Payne's musical abilities, calling him "the most qualified in every sense" when it came to their craft.

Malik concluded his tribute with a poignant message: "I hope that wherever you are right now you are good and are at peace and you know how loved you are. Love you bro."
