Queen guitarist and musician Brian May has been praised for showing his support for King Charles III following the recent announcement of his cancer diagnosis.
Yesterday evening, it was revealed that King Charles’ cancer was discovered during a recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.
He began “regular treatments” on Monday, February 5, and will postpone public duties during it, a spokesperson for the palace said.
They added the Monarch, who is 75, “remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duties as soon as possible”.
No further details of his type of cancer are being shared at this moment but the king made the decision to go public with his diagnosis.
He had a prostate procedure at a private London hospital a few weeks ago, where at the time he was being treated for a benign condition.
The spokesperson added: “It was during this intervention that a separate issue of concern was noted and subsequently diagnosed as a form of cancer.”
May posted an image of himself and King Charles on his Instagram to show his support and captioned the image: “Sending heartfelt wishes to HM KING CHARLES for a speedy full recovery.
“And saluting his courage in fighting his battle with cancer in public, giving support and inspiration to so many. Get well soon Sir! Bri.” (sic)
Many were quick to join May in supporting the king, with one Instagram user praising: “It is wonderful to see that in illness we are all equal. We just need good words of encouragement and good wishes so that the fight is less hard.”
