The Sexbomb singer recently faced calls to ‘retire’ after upsetting The Voice viewers

Sir Tom Jones, 84, has been forced to warn his social media followers of an ongoing scam that some of his fans have been subjected to.

Whilst the singer has profiles across all popular social media platforms, it has come to his team's attention that scammers have been impersonating him.

They took to his Instagram and X accounts to announce the unfortunate news and warn his followers not to fall into the trap.

The lengthy statement read: “Regrettably, it has come to our attention that there is a large number of fake online profiles impersonating Sir Tom Jones and/or his team, who are attempting to scam fans and members of the public.

“Please be aware that Sir Tom Jones only has access to his verified (blue tick) Facebook/Instagram/X/Youtube and TikTok accounts.

“Sir Tom does not communicate to individuals directly or personally via his social channels.

“If a fake profile tried to chat with you privately, report and block them. This will NOT be Sir Tom Jones or his team.

“It is sad and disheartening to hear of these scammers attempting to trap and abuse vulnerable people, so please be careful and stay safe online. Tom Jones management.”

Fans of the singer were not left surprised, as many of them revealed they too had been messaged by someone pretending to be the She’s A Lady singer.

One fan commented: “Yes, true fans know about your original pages. It's great of you to post this statement. Thanks Tom Jones.”

“I have been blocking and reporting. Sadly, there’s,” another revealed before a third said: “Yes there has and I have reported and they have been removed.

“What I don’t understand is why Instagram lets people do it. Surely, they know there’s only 1 Sir Tom Jones.”

A fourth penned: “I have reported and blocked quite a few of these fake accounts, some impersonating his son as well.”

“There are so many of them!! Trying to scam people for money and it has to stop!! I delete and report them every day, it is almost a day job,” another fumed.

Someone else added: “This has been happening for a long time now. When you get a request, just BLOCK them if we all do this will get rid of most of them.” (sic)

The scams come off the back of fans being concerned about his voice as he gets older, but he recently put to bed the lingering comments.

After coming off of his tour, he wrote: "We close this chapter after performing 74 shows in 24 countries this year! (Not bad for a pensioner).

"We’ll see you again. So until the next time, keep healthy and happy, and keep the joy of music in your life!"
