This Morning embroiled in NTA 'fix' row as fans slam nomination after Phillip Schofield saga

After a turbulent few months for the cast and crew of This Morning, the ITV show has been given a boost in the form of an NTA nod.
However, there was no such accolade granted to presenter Holly Willoughby who was absent from the best presenter category.
The nomination comes following the exit of long-serving presenter Phillip Schofield who resigned from ITV in May following an "unwise but not illegal" relationship with a young runner on the show.
Schofield also admitted to lying to Willoughby and bosses about the relationship and was dropped by his agent and from his role of ambassador by the Prince's Trust.
The 61-year-old sat down with Amol Rajan for an interview where he told the BBC presenter he expected his career to go "nowhere" following the saga.
Willoughby, on the other hand, has returned to This Morning where she now presents alongside a rotating roster of guest hosts.

The show also faced claims of "toxicity" from former crew members and stars of the show, with an external review of ITV's practices currently taking place.
It was revealed last month that a number of further complaints had been made to the committee holding the external review after it began the process.
While Willoughby has missed out on a nomination for the coveted award, her co-star Alison Hammond has had no such issue.
Hammond joins the likes of Ant and Dec, Bradley Walsh, Martin Lewis, and Claudia Winkleman as they each vie for the award
Meanwhile, This Morning faces competition from The Chase, The Repair Shop and Loose Women in its category.
After the nominations were announced, a number of fans blasted the fact This Morning was up for the award given the controversy which has marred the show in 2023.
One Twitter user claimed: "Have always thought the NTA's are Fixed, now I know they are!!! #ThisMorning @itv @thismorning."
While a second added: "Sorry not voting for this morning to win the nta's for best daytime show due to the phillip Schofield scandal.

A third simply chimed in: "Don’t think #thismorning will win at the NTA’s this year…"
Meanwhile, a fourth took aim at the presenters' nominations: "Alison nominated for best presenter? Obviously the NTAs mean absolutely f**k all #thismorning."
While a fifth had a rather damning verdict: "#ThisMorning ain't winning any more awards and there'll be no more presenters pretending to be drunk the next day," followed by a laughing emoji. (sic)
The NTAs will be hosted by Joel Dommett and take place at The O2 on Tuesday, September 5.
