Actor Dominic Chianese was by his daughter's side at the time of her death, the family has said

Sarah Francesca Chianese, the 58-year-old daughter of The Sopranos star Dominic Chianese, has died after battling glioblastoma.

She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, according to a tribute shared by the Chianese family through the Sopranos Aficionado fan account.

Glioblastoma is a malignant, cancerous brain tumour that develops from glial cells, specifically astrocytes.

The tribute revealed that her 94-year-old father remained by her side until the very end.

Sarah was known for her successful catering business in the Hudson Valley and was remembered by family members for her kindness and bright spirit.

Her sister Rebecca shared that Sarah "was a bright light in this world, she wanted everyone to live their happiest life and smile when they think of her."

In a conversation with PEOPLE, Sarah's brother Dominic Jr. shared that his sister will be remembered for "her kindness," calling it "one of the greatest human attributes."

He added that his father was in Colorado during Sarah's final days, saying, "I would just like to say that my father was there in her final days to support her in her transition. It was important to her and him both."

The family shared several photos of Sarah alongside her father, including snapshots of the pair smiling together at events.

In a eulogy shared on Sarah's Instagram page, her son wrote that her diagnosis "was never going to be survivable."

"She knew that from the onset, and conducted herself with an astounding measure of grace and kindness that persisted through her final months," he added.

Sarah's son remembered her as "one of the most accomplished women I've ever known" in his tribute.

"Whether it was reclaiming and restoring old barns, working in a law firm in her early twenties, or dominating the Hudson Valley with her catering company in her late fifties, she got the job done—always in record time, with unreal competence," he wrote.

Dominic Jr. highlighted her talent for hosting, saying she "knew how to throw a party because she had a catering business."

"She was dedicated to her craft, like a real artist when it came to that," he added.

Her son also noted that Sarah faced her diagnosis with remarkable composure, writing: "In stillness and confidence, she made her peace with the world and with God. She never lamented. Never woe is me. Never complained."

He described how she "hyper-focused on practical things" after her diagnosis.

Dominic Chianese, 94, is best known for his role as Corrado "Junior" Soprano on the HBO series The Sopranos, which aired from 1999 until 2007.

He also portrayed Johnny Ola in The Godfather Part II and Leander Whitlock in Boardwalk Empire.

In a 2021 interview with SouthJersey.com, Chianese reflected on how his success in entertainment had strengthened his family bonds.

"The biggest thing that happened (with success) is that it has connected me back with everyone in my family," he said at the time.

"I've always been close to my kids, but now we're talking about everybody - cousins, aunts, uncles - and old friends."

He added: "They think it's a beautiful thing that I've reached success late in life, but in only two years. I'm also very grateful that it happened at an age where the success doesn't go to my head."
