SZA, 35, has shared an emotional tribute to Kendrick Lamar following their Super Bowl LIX half-time show performance on Sunday night.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the Grammy-winning singer posted a collection of photos and videos from the performance alongside a heartfelt message amid claims from some fans that they had put on the "worst halftime show ever",

"THANK YOU @kendricklamar for consistently putting the world on your back . At all times," she began in her lengthy tribute.

"Thank you for lifting me up . Thank you for encouraging me and being so willing to bend to whatever I may need. Thank you to your incredible team and mine!

The pair performed together at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, where they delivered renditions of Luther and All of the Stars.

SZA made a striking appearance in a monochromatic crimson ensemble, wearing a red leather jacket paired with lace-up detailed pants and a furry belt.

The Grammy winner coordinated her look down to her red sneakers and matching long red locks, aligning with the Chiefs' team colours.

The special guest appearance had been previously announced in a January 23 performance trailer, bringing together the former Top Dawg Entertainment label mates for the prestigious show.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the performance, Lamar had shared his admiration for SZA's journey and talent.

"For me personally, watching her, you know, her career and where she's come from, it's amazing to see," Lamar said.

The rapper emphasised that SZA has "always had it" and expressed feeling "honoured to be next to her talent."

While both artists had attained Grammy glory at last week's awards ceremony, their half-time show received a divided reaction.

The stadium crowd inside the Superdome, who remained largely silent throughout the performance, hinted at a potential lack of enthusiasm towards the medley performance.

However, viewers were quick to make their thoughts clear on social media with some blasting it as the "worst half-time show ever".

"I like rap. But I’m not sure how this is good at all honestly. Kendrick Lamar can’t be the best rapper they got," another wrote.

Other took issue with Lamar's style of rap, slamming him for "mumbling".

"Kendrick Lamar mumbles when he raps and his pitch is beyond monotone," wrote one while another added the show: "has to be one of the worse halftime ever, mumble rapper."

SZA was not immune from backlash, with one viewer writing: "Don’t jump me but Sza was useless on stage during the Superbowl." (sic)
