The star quickly became a fan favourite after first appearing on series 2 of the show

The Repair Shop's leather expert Suzie Fletcher has revealed that filming on the popular BBC One programme sometimes needs to be halted due to the emotional impact some of the restorations had on the cast.

The leather specialist shared that the team can sometimes become overwhelmed when hearing the poignant stories behind guests' treasured possessions.

These emotional moments have occasionally led to production being temporarily suspended as the craftspeople process how they’re feeling and become composed for the camera again.

Speaking to the Feels Like Healing podcast, Fletcher explained: "There have been moments where we have actually had to stop filming.

“Because all of us were so affected by the sharing and people's upfrontness and willingness to share.

"It's lovely to hear somebody's story, because we all have a story in us and it's done with no judgement and it's actually what they (guests) probably need, and they feel better."

The emotional journey doesn’t just impact the repair team, as guests also experience powerful feelings when entering the set.

Fletcher added: "We have so many people come in and say 'I wasn't going to cry' but as soon as you walk through those big doors there is a vibe change in the barn.

“It's safe and it's caring and it's genuine and it's why it has been so successful."

This special atmosphere has become a hallmark of the programme, creating a space where both craftspeople and guests feel comfortable sharing their stories.

Fletcher has previously spoken about the poignant final words of her husband before he died from cancer.

Her spouse, Jamie, also known as Rob, passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of 52.

She recalled his last moments of clarity: "On Monday morning, Rob became quite lucid and started talking. 'Baby blue,' he repeated a few times, 'Brum, brum, brum, drive'."

She noted his arms were moving up and down while he spoke these words.

The Repair Shop is currently airing its 14th series, showcasing the talented team of craftspeople who restore cherished family heirlooms.

In tonight's episode, viewers will see Fletcher apply her considerable skills to refurbish a 1970s stuffed leather toy kangaroo.
