The legendary singer is stunned he is still able to sing well

Sir Tom Jones will be turning 84 this summer, but has no plans to retire from his decades-long singing career.

The She’s A Lady singer has admitted he “can’t believe” he’s still able to sing as he reflecting on hanging up his vocal boots.

Jones expressed his surprise that his talents haven’t dwindled through the years. He’s currently in the midst of his Ages and Stages World Tour, which has seen him travel to Argentina, Mexico and Brazil.

Speaking to the Mirror, he explained he was feeling fitter than ever after having had both of his hips replaced over the last few years.

“Well, thank God my voice is still working,” he reflected. “I am 83 years old.”

The iconic singer continued: “I mean I can’t believe it, but it is true. When I am singing I am like, ‘How the hell is this coming out of me?’

“Honestly. If the voice was not there I am sure I would be going ‘Urgh, I don’t want to do so many shows’ but I love it as the voice is still working!”

Recalling some of the big names he’s rubbed shoulders with throughout the years, he told the publication: “When I finally got to the US, someone said to me, ‘Elvis is here. He would like to say hello’.

“I had this ballad out at the time called With These Hands and there was Elvis walking to me singing it.

“All I can remember thinking was, ‘Jesus Christ. It was Elvis Presley walking towards me singing my song!’”

Elsewhere, the singer recently opened up about his marriage to his wife of 59 years, Linda.

Jones married his wife, whose real name was Melinda Trenchard, in 1957 and the pair remained united up until her death in April 2016.

But in a new interview eight years on from his wife's death, the Delilah hitmaker admitted she remained the "the most important thing" in his life.

During an interview with the Telegraph in 2012, he divulged: "I still love my wife – the longer you’re married, it changes.

"The older you get, it’s no longer a sex thing. There’s got to be more than that in order for it to last.

"You have to like one another; you have to have the same values.

"We both came from a working-class background, we both came from the same place, so we’re not like two foreign people having to explain to each other what their childhood was like.

"A lot of that, I think, has to do with the marriage lasting as long as it did. We grew up together. To walk away from that would be terrible."
