Sam Smith breaks down in tears on stage in reflection on 'challenging moments' of career

The Unholy singer took to the stage in Montreal, Canada for one of their latest performances
Sam Smith was left in tears during a recent gig in Montreal after the crowds roared when the singer stepped foot on stage.
Sharing the clip to their Instagram page, Smith took a moment to reflect on how seeing the outpouring of support made them feel.
Smith also reminisced about their own career path in the spotlight and how the crowd's reaction made "every hard and challenging moment so worth it".
Alongside the clip, the singer wrote: "Dear Montréal, when I was in my early teens, a dvd of Rihannas girl gone bad tour came out and the show was at the bell centre.
"I watched it religiously. I was totally obsessed. Deep down it was my life’s mission to get to that room and to sing on that stage.
"My first time doing a show on that stage was at 21 years old with the In the lonely hour tour and it was my favourite show of the entire tour. You’ve just done it again.

"Last night made me feel a type of way I don’t think I’ve ever felt on stage. I’ve never felt so much love or heard an applause like that for myself ever.
"It makes every hard and challenging moment so worth it. The love for music and art in Montréal is astounding.
"I’m deeply deeply grateful to you all. You made that confused 14 year old queer kid watching @badgalriri from a TV in a tiny village in Englands dreams come true last night."
"I love you irrevocably x," the 31-year-old signed off to their 14.6 million Instagram followers. (sic)
In the clip, the 31-year-old non-binary singer stepped on stage in a white shirt, black tie, and golden jeweled corset.
They bowed a few moments after taking to the stage as the noise from the crowd erupted.
Soon after, Smith could be seen wiping tears and holding their face after becaming consumed with emotion.
Smith's followers were quick to take to the comments section of the post to praise the singer.

Smith is best known for their chart-topping singles such as Unholy, Too Good At Goodbyes, and Money On My Mind.
However, Smith is no stranger to controversy either, with critics slamming the singer's "vulgar and satanic" performances throughout their latest tour.
Earlier on their Gloria tour, Smith has been pictured performing with devil horns, wearing skimpy underwear, and sporting nipple tassels.
Smith also used religious imagery during their performances which have taken place all over the globe.
