Famously outspoken Ricky Gervais has caused a stir after sharing a new promotional advert for his Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka.
The straight-talking comedian loudly and proudly admitted he was “destroying” his own work with the advert, which wasn’t allowed to be shown on television or used as a promoted ad on social media.
The skit showed Gervais, 62, speaking to fellow comic Red Richardson, who was dressed as a doctor in the latest of a series of promotional clips the duo have starred in.
In the "banned" clip, he can be seen telling Richardson: “You like a drink, don’t you?” before patting the stand-up’s stomach.
He went on to quip: “I think vodka is probably better than beer in terms of calories per unit of alcohol, although I doubt it will make a dent in you. You're fat because you eat too much, aren't you?"
“No exercise,” Richardson replied as the After Life star jibed: “You won't be laughing when you have to have your feet removed from diabetes! Fat c***," before roaring with laughter.

Unashamed of the clip, Gervais posted it on X, formerly Twitter, adding: “Not only is this banned from TV but we're not even allowed to use it as promoted ads on social media.
“It's all down to you lot reposting it. I'm slowly destroying my own company for a laugh.”
Despite the official bans, the clip received high praise from the comedian’s fans, who took to the comment section in hysterics.
His self-promotion seemed to work as well, as several fans even went on to say they’d be purchasing the drink.
“Is there an award for best advert? These are so good, so original, beautiful, hilarious miniature masterpieces!” one responded.

“I can't put my finger on why this was so funny, but it was. I think it was when the Doctor Actor lost it. Lol,” a second penned.
“I don't even like vodka but gonna have a go,” another vowed, while someone else commented: “Adverts are riddled with manipulation and designed to make you feel ad insecure as possible. Your ads tell the truth. How can they be banned anywhere!!!”
“Let’s make it the most shared advert in social media history then,” a fifth urged.
Another shared: “It's just plain funny and genial. Will try for sure when available in Canada.” (sic)

It isn’t the first comic advert Gervais has posted of his alcoholic brand, with another receiving similar praise recently.
Last week he was labelled a “genius” over a clip he shared which showed himself and Richardson discussing “the dangers of alcohol”.
Red, in his same doctor character, listed off: “Well there is loads, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, liver disease, weakening the immune system, digestive problems, depression, violence and accidents.”
Ending the advert, Gervais simply pointed to the bottle which was sitting on a table, and said: “Dutch Barn.”
