Richard Osman has revealed that Gino D'Acampo's removal from ITV schedules stems from a long-running "pattern of behaviour" rather than isolated incidents.
Speaking on his podcast The Rest is Entertainment, the former Pointless presenter addressed why the TV chef's shows have been pulled following allegations of misconduct.
"People do not lose their job just because they said a couple of things a couple of times. It's a pattern of behaviour, it's upset a number of people over a number of years," Osman explained.
He went on to add that TV personalities typically maintain their positions unless there's widespread discontent among colleagues.
"If you're in trouble as a presenter but actually your crew loves you and people who work with you go, 'That's just what they do and he's a really decent guy,' then you don't get fired."
The presenter emphasised that dismissals only occur when issues persist over time, becoming "tiresome" for those involved.
The comments come as D'Acampo faces more than 40 complaints of misconduct spanning 12 years.

D'Acampo, 48, is accused of making "distressing" and "unacceptable" comments on TV sets, allegations which he strongly denies.
One reported incident from 2011 involved D'Acampo making explicit sexual comments to a female colleague about the kitchen counter.
Another woman alleged he displayed "aggressive" behaviour during a location shoot, opening his door in boxers and making references to his genitalia.
In 2019, he allegedly threatened a young crew member over ice cream, making inappropriate comments about the person's girlfriend.

Further allegations emerged regarding "disgusting" sexual comments about his ITV co-star Holly Willoughby, comparing her to Fearne Cotton in crude terms.
It was recently reported that Hell's Kitchen presenter Gordon Ramsay cut ties with D'Acampo two years ago over concerns about his conduct.
The insider added that after Ramsay "threw Gino under the bus", Ramsay and his professional team sought to distance themselves, stating: "We wanted to get him as far away as possible."
The pair previously appeared together with Fred Sirieix on the Road Trip series before their relationship reportedly became "fractured".
Since the allegations came to light, ITV has faced mounting pressure to address its handling of the allegations against D'Acampo.
The broadcaster told The Standard: "Our promise to those we work with is that where a complaint is made to ITV or serious concerns raised, we will look into it, and if we find that something inappropriate has happened, we will take action."

A source told MailOnline that Ramsay was "horrified" by D'Acampo's behaviour and felt compelled to intervene.
"Gordon found there was a lot of unacceptable behaviour going on, he saw things he didn't think were okay so he spoke up. That was that. Friendship over," the source revealed.
D'Acampo has "firmly denied" all allegations, describing them as "deeply upsetting."
ITV has now pulled repeats of D'Acampo's programmes and cancelled an upcoming Family Fortunes series from their broadcasting schedule.
