The wife of the Maggie May rocker thanked fans for their ongoing support
Penny Lancaster has taken time out of her schedule to pen an emotional message to fans just hours after husband Rod Stewart was forced to cancel his show in Las Vegas.
Stewart, 79, took to Instagram earlier this week to reveal he was "gutted" to cancel his 200th show in Vegas after being diagnosed with strep throat.
The announcement sparked concern over his future on-stage, even though he'd previously confirmed he'd be returning Stateside for a series of shows next year.
Stewart also fell victim to taunts from fans of Donald Trump who branded the diagnosis as "karma" for the singer's attack on the former president last month.
Soon after the announcement, Lancaster took to Instagram to thank fans for their ongoing support.
"Thank you to the 200k followers who have supported the moments I’ve shared with everyone," Lancaster began.
Penny Lancaster and Rod Stewart have been married since 2007
PA"I hope that through my posts I have been able to connect with you and provide joy and inspiration but above all the message that kindness and compassion is the true gift of nature.
"Something we should aspire to project amongst one another each day, even though from time to time we slip up, it’s important to reconnect to that place."
Lancaster is often praised for her candid updates on social media and insights to family life with the 79-year-old singer.
Back in June, for instance, Lancaster found herself inundated with support when she bravely opened up about her menopause diagnosis and the toll it toll on her marriage to Stewart.
After being misdiagnosed with depression, Lancaster opened up about how she struggled with the symptoms and "had a few … what I could classify as ‘mental breakdowns'."
The health struggle even led to Lancaster launching plates "across the kitchen" during a dinner with her beau.
She told the Times: "I couldn’t contain it anymore. I didn’t want to hurt anyone. I didn’t want to hurt myself. But I felt like it was getting to that point.
"I collapsed on the floor in a heap, burst into tears, shaking in the corner. Of course, it was an absolute shock to Rod and the boys.
"Rod just went, ‘Boys, in the other room. Leave Mummy'. He came over and said, ‘It’s all right, darling. It’s OK, it’s OK.’ I was shaking. ‘I can’t do this. What the hell is going on with me?’
"I thought I was going mad. Rod said, ‘Right, we’ve got to get you to the doctor’s. You can’t carry on like this. There’s got to be an answer. There’s got to be something'."
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Lancaster's post and Stewart's diagnosis comes just days after the husband and wife duo celebrated the one-year anniversary of the singer's whiskey brand, Wolfie's.
The pair celebrated with their family and friend at the glamorous Vegas party to mark the occasion.
