The iconic Britpop band announced a 2025 reunion tour earlier this year

Fans of Oasis legends Liam and Noel Gallagher are in uproar after it was revealed tickets purchased through unofficial resellers would be cancelled.

Around 50,000 tickets, amounting to around four per cent of the total sold, are set to be ineligible for the band’s comeback tour.

The tour was previously mired in controversy as “dynamic pricing” from official partner Ticketmaster saw some fans' standing ticket prices shoot from £135 to £355 as they were confirming their purchase.

The scandal prompted the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to launch an "urgent review" into the dynamic pricing system.

Following the controversy, an Oasis official statement declared: “Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used.”

Now, the band’s promoters Live Nation and SJM have announced tickets purchased from unaffiliated markets, most for further inflated prices, will be cancelled and resold at face value via Ticketmaster.

The news has divided the Oasis fanbase, with some applauding the move and others expressing anger.

One X, formally Twitter, user fumed: “Great so the fans who brought it for more money than they should’ve are gonna lose the ticket and money? What a joke."

Another, worried some would not be able to replace their tickets, asked: “How many fans were ripped off in this way? Surely Oasis want their fans treated fairly!!”

Other users were more cynical about the move, asking Ticketmaster: “I don’t suppose you’ll be cancelling all the dynamic pricing tickets you sold for the Oasis tour as well, will you?”

Despite the anger, other fans came out in support of the move against “profiteering” by ticket touts that caused “real fans” to miss out.

Another fan said of those stuck with cancelled tickets: “Serves them right, from the very start, the band warned that anyone buying tickets from non-official websites would risk the tickets being cancelled.”

Initial sales for the Oasis UK tour dates went live in August, with 1.4 million tickets available for purchase.

10 million fans from 158 countries joined the queue, with tickets completely selling out in a matter of hours.

In September, the Britpop icons announced North American tour dates which would not be subject to dynamic ticket pricing.

The American leg of the 2025 comeback tour sold out within an hour.

Oasis fans also received more positive news recently as The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft confirmed he will open each stop of their summer tour next year.

In a statement, Ashcroft said: “Now it’s time to create more memories and I’m ready to bring it. See you next summer. Music is power.”
