Noddy Holder has revealed he was “a bit squiffy” when he wrote his iconic Christmas song.
The legendary singer spoke to GB News as his song, It’s Christmas, celebrates its 50th birthday.
In an exclusive interview, he also told how he wakes his wife Susan up each year on December 25 - by screaming the song into her ear.
Reflecting on how he wrote the song, he said: “We’d already done the music several years before.

“We decided to make it a Christmas song. And I went away one night and I had a few drinks in the pub.
“I went back to where I was stayed and wrote the lyrics all in one fell swoop that night.
“I was a bit squiffy when I wrote them, of course.
“I love listening to it everywhere. And every every day of the year practically.

“I'm out and about and somebody else shouts Christmas at me.
“Some will do it more so this time of the year obviously. And they all think it's the first time anybody's ever done it.
“I do think it's particularly funny when they do it in July as well.
Revealing how he “treats” his wife Susan to her own version each year he added; “Susan doesn't like it though. Because on Christmas morning it's a tradition I scream it into her ear.”
Appearing on GB News alongside her husband, Susan joked: “It’s true - he thinks it's hilarious!”
