Actor Nicky Katt, known for his roles in Dazed and Confused and School of Rock, has died at the age of 54.
The prolific actor's death was confirmed Saturday by attorney John Sloss, head of Sloss Law, the firm that represented Katt.
No details regarding the cause of death have been disclosed.
Katt gained mainstream recognition for his portrayal of tough guy Clint Bruno in Richard Linklater's 1993 coming-of-age comedy Dazed and Confused, which also starred Matthew McConaughey, Parker Posey and Ben Affleck.
Born in May 1970 in South Dakota, Katt frequently collaborated with Linklater throughout his career.

Katt also appeared as Razor alongside Jack Black in the 2003 comedy classic School of Rock.
He also worked with director Steven Soderbergh on several films, including the 2002 comedy Full Frontal alongside Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt.
The actor featured in Soderbergh's 2013 Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra.
Other notable film appearances included roles in Sin City, Boiler Room, and The Way of the Gun.
He also acted alongside two different onscreen Batman's, playing small roles in 1997's Batman and Robin with George Clooney and 2008's The Dark Knight with Christian Bale.

Katt began his acting career in the early 1980s, appearing in bit parts on US television shows including Fantasy Island and CHiPs.
He was best known on the small screen for his role as Harry Senate, a geology teacher in the Fox drama series Boston Public where he appeared in 49 episodes across the show's first three seasons.
Throughout his career, Katt appeared in numerous other shows including Monk and Law & Order.
He went on to secure recurring roles in Herbie, the Love Bug and The Get Along Gang in the mid-1980s, along with guest spots on The Facts of Life and Uncle Buck.
Katt also had a guest appearance as Arthur in The One with the Bullies episode of legendary comedy Friends in 1996

In his personal life, Katt was married to Annie Morse from 1999 until their divorce in 2001.
He largely kept his personal relationships out of the public eye, with few details about his family life available.
Speaking to IGN previously, Katt discussed his career and playing a huge variety of roles.
“I’ve always looked up to people like Gary Oldman and Lee Marvin and Warren Oates, these guys who don’t really fit into one thing,” he began.
"Everyone also says that the bad guys are the most fun, but I’ve definitely gone through streaks where that’s all that people wanted me to play, the bad guy, especially after Dazed And Confused.
“But I’ve been really lucky because I get to play all different types of guys."
