Neighbours star issues heartfelt tribute after mother dies following 13-year Alzheimer's battle

Australian soap star Guy Pearce announced the news on social media on Tuesday
Guy Pearce has confirmed his mother has died as the actor took to Twitter to share a heartfelt tribute.
The actor posted a series of snaps of himself and his mother alongside his statement.
Pearce wrote in view of his 76.8k followers: "Lost my beautiful Mum today. ‘Kicked the bucket’ as she would say.
"What a sharp, fierce & witty woman Anne was, until Alzheimer’s struck in 2010.
"It’s been a long & winding road. A fitting song 4 ur departure Mum.
"Tracy & I will miss u enormously. We’ll always love u XX," he signed off. (sic)

Pearce shared four photos close to his heart, including portraits of his mother as a youngster.
He also shared several with his sister Tracy, who has a learning disability called Cornelia de Lange.
Naturally, it didn't take long for a number of Pearce's fans to send their condolences following the tragic news.
One fan wrote in response: "This is such a sadness. I’m so sorry for your loss Guy, sending all the love."
While a second weighed in: "I'm so so sorry to hear this, my mother passed recently too. May you find strength and peace Guy."
A third also commented: "Condolences to you and your family Guy.
"Losing your mum is surreal, like your greatest fan just left. It hurts a lot but then the bursts of memory come, your story makes sense again. The love never leaves."
And a fourth echoed: "Condolences Guy, very sad. Who wouldn't want to be a mum or dad. Best pastime in the world."

Pearce's mother was always a vocal support of his acting dreams before he landed his breakout role on Neighbours at the age of 18.
She was married to Royal New Zealand Air Force pilot Stuart Pearce but was widowed when he tragically died in an aircraft accident in 1975.
