The US actor had been given a warning previously about his offensive language

Actor Mickey Rourke has been asked to leave the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Following a controversial week on the ITV reality show, the 72-year-old has now left the series.

A spokesperson for Celebrity Big Brother said: "Mickey Rourke has agreed to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House this evening following a discussion with Big Brother regarding further use of inappropriate language and instances of unacceptable behaviour."

It is understood that following the offensive remarks on Wednesday, there were further incidents regarding Rourke.

The latest interaction seems to have been over a disagreement with Love Island star Chris Hughes during a task.

While this is understood to have led to behaviour and language deemed threatening and aggressive, no physical altercation took place.

The axing comes after the show was met with huge backlash last week over Rourke's homophobic remarks towards JoJo Siwa.

During Wednesday night's episode, Rourke made comments about Siwa's sexuality, telling her "If I stay longer than four days, you won't be gay anymore."

The interaction began with the actor asking Siwa if she likes "girls or boys," to which the 21-year-old responded "girls".

"If I stay longer than four days, you won't be gay anymore," the actor and former boxer commented in response.

He went on to tell the singer he would "tie you up," before commenting he wanted to "vote out the lesbian".

When Siwa pointed out he was being homophobic, Rourke went on to remark: "I need a f**."

Gesturing towards Siwa, he added: "I'm not talking to you," prompting Hughes, 32, to point out: "Mickey, you can't say that."

He was given an official warning by Big Brother and later apologised to Siwa.

Rourke also came under fire online for comments made in relation to Donna Preston's weight.

Within minutes of Rourke's arrival on the show on Monday evening, fans also noted "creepy" behaviour as they took to social media.

The complaints came as the former boxer made show host AJ Odudu "uncomfortable" by glaring for a lengthy time at her body.

The presenter had to tell him to "stop looking at me" as she and co-host Will Best guided him away from the stage.

Rourke also made EastEnders star Patsy Palmer cry on Friday's episode after he made repeated jibes about her cooking.

Rourke's behaviour on the show saw some viewers go as far as threatening to boycott the series.

Following Rourke's first warning by Big Brother, one fan wrote on X: "Sorry a warning isn’t enough. telling a 21 year old he’ll tie her up? she won’t be gay anymore? all the language he used? he's disgusting and should be removed straight away. #CBBUK #CBB."
