A body was found after an extensive search

Legendary broadcaster Anne Diamond has paid her respects to TV doctor Michael Mosley after he was found dead.

His body was found in a cave on Symi, a Greek Island, the local mayor confirmed.

It comes after an extensive search which was launched on Wednesday when an appeal was shared in a local Facebook group.

The dad-of-four had reportedly set off on a walk from Saint Nicolas Beach at about 1.30pm local time but failed to return home.

“In a way, thank goodness they have found him. At least the family know.

“What a tragic end to a brilliant man.”

New footage emerged yesterday appearing to show Mosley walking unimpeded with an umbrella near to the marina.

The mayor said the area where Mosley is believed to have travelled through is “difficult to pass” and is “only rocks”, as well as being populated by “loads” of snakes.

Speaking through a translator, the mayor of 22 years questioned how anyone could survive in the heat that topped 40C on the day Mosley disappeared.

Dr Mosley was known for appearing on television programmes like This Morning and The One Show.

He also hosted the Just One Thing health podcast for the BBC.

More recently, he appeared on Channel 4 presenting two shows, Secrets of Your Big Shop and Who Made Britain Fat?

He has been recognised for his work in the field with an RTS and an Emmy award.

He has previously been named medical journalist of the year by the British Medical Association.
