Michael Jackson’s youngest son Blanket ‘Bigi’ Jackson – real name Prince Michael Jackson II – has gone up against his grandmother Katherine Jackson to protect his father’s legacy and estate.
The 22-year-old is reported to have filed legal papers to stop his grandmother from using his father’s estate funds to fund an appeal of a previous ruling.
Jackson has kept out of the spotlight for the majority of his life and made a rare appearance earlier this month in Los Angeles.
Before filing his own papers, reports claimed that Jackson and his grandmother were “recently working together to stop the executors of [Michael] Jackson’s estate from going through with a huge business transaction that they were very much so against.”
Documents do not say what the transaction was, but it seems it may be related to the deal the estate made with Sony to sell half of the popstars music catalogue for $600million (£473million).
TMZ has since reported that the youngest of three explained how he and his grandmother presented their arguments opposing the deal, with the court ruling against them and closing the case.

However, Jackson’s grandmother has now decided to appeal against the ruling, with the youngest Jackson child disagreeing with her decision – not wanting to use the estate for the legal bills either.
The broadcaster reported that Jackson doesn’t think appealing the case “truly benefits the beneficiaries of the trust,” and doesn’t believe his father should pay for it.
He is also reported to have asked the court to use its best judgement to grant his grandmother “reasonable attorney’s fees incurred from the pre-appeal battle.”
Last year, it was stated in legal documents that Jackson had hoped to keep his position under wraps, maintaining “confidentiality”.

Jackson is a “very private person and may have said nothing if he knew that his words or position could become public. That, in turn, would have denied the trial court of the ability to hear and consider all aspects of the proposed action.”
The news of the court case comes just days after the upcoming biopic sparked backlash and was accused of “whitewashing” as the movie “rewrites” assault allegations.
HBO’s Leaving Neverland director Dan Reed claimed that he had seen a draft of the script last year and told The Times London: “It’s an out-and-out attempt to completely rewrite the allegations and dismiss them out of hand, and contains complete lies.
“You never see him alone with any boys, when it is a matter of fact that he shared his bed with small children for many years.

“Jackson is only ever seen caring for children with childhood cancer, or dancing with a little girl in a wheelchair, or tucking up multiple little boys, mostly his nephews, at sleepovers.
“It feels like the creators of the movie have been stuck in a room with John Branca and just told what to write.”
