Maura Higgins claims Ant McPartlin was forced to intervene when unaired ITV I'm A Celebrity trial went wrong

The Love Island star was sixth to be eliminated from the ITV series
I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star Maura Higgins revealed she was unable to complete a Bushtucker Trial with Alan Halsall due to their machines breaking.
The Irish star went through her fair share of challenges whilst in the jungle, and made it clear that she had a terrifying fear of spiders.
During one trial alongside Jane Moore, Higgins was forced to enter an enclosed box full of Huntsman spiders and look for codes whilst Moore used them to unlock their stars.
However, it seems the Love Island star was meant to face more than just a few spiders in her time on the show as she recently explained one of her trials was not aired due to it breaking.
She joined RadioX host Chris Moyles and Pippa Taylor to discuss her time in the show and compare experiences with Moyles who was in the jungle back in 2022.
Posting a clip of their chat on Instagram, Higgins began: “I went in with a massive fear of spiders, and I think my fear is a lot worse now.”
Maura revealed the trial that was unaired
“It’s weird isn’t it,” Moyles noted, comparing to his time in the jungle before Taylor jumped in: “I don’t know how you did some of those spider challenges.”
“Was there anything you did in there that was never shown on telly?” Moyles asked leaving Higgins to reveal: “I did a full challenge that wasn’t aired.
“It all went wrong! There was only 1 minute left, the machines kept breaking. Me and Alan broke the handle off our machines, and it was like these magnets, but they weren’t working.
“Even Ant came down and tried to work my machine because he thought I was just being silly and I was like, getting all stressed going ‘No! It won’t work!’.
Chris related to Maura's predicament as the same thing happened during his series
“I was like ‘I’m against the clock, I’m gonna lose!’ Then he came down and was like ‘No her machine is actually broken’ and they were like ‘Guys we’rereally sorry we have to change the whole trial’.
“And it was with green ants. So, our arms from our hands up to here were just eaten alive. For nothing?
“I was like, no this can’t be happening.”
Whilst in the jungle, Higgins also touched on the romance rumours which were circulating between herself and Pete Wicks.
During a discussion about dating, she revealed to Oti Mabuse that she had been “seeing someone” before entering the jungle.
When asked if the relationship was exclusive by Reverend Richard Coles, Higgins responded with uncertainty, saying "I dunno" after a long pause.

Speaking to Mabuse in the jungle, Higgins opened up about how Wicks had persistently pursued her over the years.
"He would always say, 'Oh no, like, we are gonna go on a date somewhere.' And I'd be like, 'We're actually not.' And I was deadly serious, 'We're actually not. You're delusional’.
"He wouldn't give up. And then I was like, 'Oh fine'. We went out for oysters and wine. Yeah, come on. It was super nice."
