The financial journalist had joined in the appeal to find his friend

Martin Lewis has admitted it is with a "heavy heart" that he's had to share the news that a body has been found in the search for missing teacher, Anthony Hill.

Hill had been missing since Monday after leaving his home in Norwich and on Friday, Norfolk Police confirmed a body was discovered and his family was informed.

Lewis had joined with the appeals to find Hill earlier this week having worked with him at MoneySavingExpert.

Hill left the company, however, to pursue a career in teaching.

Sharing Norfolk Police's statement about the discovery of the body, Lewis paid tribute and shared his condolences for Hill's family on Friday afternoon.

He penned: "It's with a heavy heart I share this. My love to Ant's wife Kayleigh and their little girls. It's the worst news.

"I'm so sorry for all Ant's friends and his little pupils. I will remember you fondly Ant.

"Also thanks to the thousands of you who shared the posts while Ant was missing, I know it gave succour to his family. RIP."

Norfolk Police announced the body was discovered in an area off Heathgate in the city shortly before 8pm.

The death is not believed to be suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner in due course, with a formal identification to take place soon.

Earlier this week when news of Hill's disappearance first broke, Lewis used his platform to share the "devastating" news.

He penned: "This is devastating. Please share. Anthony is a lovely man who used to work on the MoneySavingExpert deals team before leaving to pursue his valiant passion to get into teaching.

"I hope and pray he's OK. Please please spread word."

He followed this up a few days later after another appeal from the police: "This is a new picture of Ant who is missing in Norwich. No news on him yet.

"His wife, daughters, parents of his little pupils, and all his former colleagues at MoneySavingExpert are very worried. Please keep an eye out and let the police know if you see him."

Lewis' followers flocked to reply to his post on X with their messages of condolence following the news.

A second added: "I'm very sorry to hear this. I worked with him on some content for the site years ago and I've never forgotten what a genuinely nice and decent person he was. Sending my condolences to his family and friends."

Another echoed: "So so sad about this. I grew up where he went missing and I also knew his wife via a close friend when they were in London. Really hope Kayleigh has lots of support."

"Just saw this on the bbc website and immediately came here to send my condolences to you and his family. RIP," a fourth commented. (sic)
