Madonna was forced to apologise during her latest performance on her Celebration Tour after she asked a wheelchair user in the audience why they were sitting down.
The Material Girl singer addressed her audience at the Kia Forum in LA on Thursday, March 7 and began berating the concertgoer for not standing up during her set.
In the clip, which was circulated on social media, Madonna asked: “What are you doing sitting down over there?” before walking over to the fan.
Quickly realising that they where in a wheelchair, the star quickly apologised: “Oh okay. Politically incorrect. Sorry about that. I’m glad you’re here.”
The moment was picked up by many X users who slammed Madonna for even questioning why the person was sitting, reminding her they paid to be there.
One noted: “Does it matter if they’re sitting or standing? they paid for the ticket and took the time to be there? Isn’t that enough???”
Madonna was branded a disgrace for her comment
“The person sitting has paid for tickets, no matter if she is sitting or standing,” another added before a third quipped: “Madonna had those one of a kind unlucky streak going on.”
Another added: “How weird to call anyone out, regardless of whether they are disabled or not, she doesn’t own them. If they don’t want to stand that’s their business.”
“Omg. What an absolute disgrace! Shame on her! That’s unacceptable!” one slammed before a sixth expressed: “Madonna is someone who completely ruined her own legacy. Pathetic.”
However, not everyone thought she was in the wrong, as one user praised: “Unfortunate when assumptions lead to awkward moments.

Her Celebration Tour has had a few memorable moments, including the Vogue singer falling off her chair due to her dancer slipping.
Toppling off the chair and rolling onto her stomach, she joked: “S**t, I forgot the words,” before her dancer dragged the chair off stage, allowing her to finish the song.
Away from the chaos, Madonna also opened up about her “near-death experience” last year after being put into a induced coma.
