Clarkson's Farm returns on May 3 with the former Top Gear star owning Diddly Squat since 2008

Jeremy Clarkson's girlfriend Lisa Hogan has opened up about her time filming the latest series and admitted that she has put her previous feuds with the locals "in the past".

The hit Amazon series will return next week and will see Clarkson and the gang deal with the aftermath of the closure notice given by the council after their successful restaurant opening.

During the new series, the council set its sights on the farm shop and car park, meaning the team have more trouble up ahead, with Clarkson's beloved cow herd having to leave the premises.

On top of the council trouble, the freakish water is ruining the crops, with Cheerful Charlie warning of crippling crops and poor yields.

Along with a tonne of joyful and calamitous moments, the team suffer fresh heartbreak, as Clarkson and Hogan are unable to cope with the animal deaths.

With the council hot on their tail, Hogan recently spoke about her relationship with their surrounding neighbours and admitted that it has progressed in recent years.

When asked about how she was getting on, she admitted: "You know, they’ve always been very supportive in the village. There was just a small minority that would complain but thankfully that’s all in the past."

When discussing some of the heartbreaking scenes later in the series, she noted: "It was heartbreaking. Jeremy's always loved pigs, I didn’t think I’d be that enamoured by pigs but I did get really close to them as people will see.

"Farming’s just sad. The animals become your friends and you're isolated – there are certain farms that are really isolated – and the animals become your family.

"When they become unwell, you're losing members of your animal family. That scene will have a tremendous impact on audiences."

She added that she was proud that they were able to get vulnerable in front of a camera crew and pull on the heartstrings of their viewers, whilst raising awareness of farming and animal death.

Elsewhere ahead of the latest series, Clarkson sat down with the Guardian and discussed whether he had ever contemplated retirement and hanging up his wellies.

The idea made Clarkson "shudder" as he looks forward to a long future on the farm but when Hogan interjected in the interview to admit she's doing her best to keep a fund for when she retires, the conversation turned towards the farm's future itself.

"I keep telling them, 'Listen, when I’m dead, I don’t want you to sell it'."

However, he went on to reveal his children's response isn't what he'd desired, explaining: "They look at me like, 'Are you joking?'"

For now, the future of Diddly Squat remains bright under Clarkson's ownership with Amazon already giving the green light to a fourth season of the hit series.
